Early Morning at Cold Spring, Asher B. Durand, 1850
|
Located about
an hour and ten minutes north or New York City by train, Cold Spring is
one of several Hudson River villages that city folks escape to when they
want to go "upstate" (In my opinion, "upstate" doesn’t start until about
past Albany, but I guess your opinion doesn’t count on this matter unless
you are from "the city.") Most folks come here for the trendy bookshops
and antique stores, some come for the gorgeous views of the Hudson. I come
for the ruins.
House and farm ruins in the woods, a crumbling factory
site, and an abandoned mansion are to be found here.
