Office,
SLEEPY HOLLOW CEMETERY

October 11, 2003

The stone office features stained-glass windows depicting scenes from Washington Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The cemetery was incorporated in 1849 as the Tarrytown Cemetery, but its name was soon changed to reflect the legendary name for this locale. This scene was illuminated by streetlights, hence the upper part of the building is covered by tree shadow. A full moon is seen at left above the building, and the shadow of the cemetery gates fill the foreground.
