The letters NEW YORK CENTRAL are still visible on the letterboard of Metro North number 2115. Geoffrey Doughty's book The Great Steel Fleet gives the history of this particular car. It was built by Pullman Standard in 1946 as long distance coach number 3019 for the New York Central. Later it was rebuilt as a commuter coach and renumbered 1715. In its last years it served Metro North as mobile office space.
